Surraya Aziz is a Guest Dancer and Mentee with Propeller Dance. She has been dancing since age 5, primarily training in ballet, tap and jazz. At age 18 she began dancing hip hop. She has trained with various urban dance troupes in the city such as Culture Shock Ottawa and Pulse N’ Limited. She is also currently teaching hip hop to youth at risk around Ottawa. She has always been passionate about mental health, earning her Psychology and Mental Health degree from the University of Toronto  in 2015, as well as through her own lived experience with Mental Illness. In 2018-2019, Surraya was rehearsal assistant for community collaboration Picture This and Guest Dancer in Company piece A Look Inside, both pieces inspired by the themes of mental health and societal expectations.
