Community Week 2020

About the Week

Join Propeller Dance as we celebrate our dance community and International Day of Persons with Disability. Propeller Dance is known for celebrating all things community in early December through Community Day. Even though this year looks a little different, we are determined for the tradition to continue and to gather, celebrate and DANCE!

Starting December 1, we are celebrating all week long through special video presentations, live events and finishing it all off in true Community Day style with a dance party! Through Pay-What-You-Like admission, you can have access of up to three very special video presentations all week long, and three live, online events (December 1-December 7).

Visit our eventbrite event page to purchase access to the videos and events of your choosing. Link to eventbrite: Community Week 2020

Behind the Mask, an Emerging Choreographer’s program piece from its 2014 debut, choreographed by Moni Hoffman. This event will be great way to reacquaint yourself with our successful and innovative Emerging Choreographers Program, which is entering its third cohort this 20-21 season!

On Tuesday Dec. 1st at 7pm there will be a live talkback on Zoom about the piece with panelists Moni Hoffman and Renata Soutter. Moderated by Liz Winkelaar.

A Retrospective Film of Past Recreational Productions: This “blast from the past” compilation features some of the best clips from recreational program productions of the past decade such as Aqueous, Egress My Love, the EveryBODY Dance parade and many more.

Intertwined: Our online recreational classes have a special treat up their sleeves for you! Throughout the pandemic our recreational community has been finding ways to stay: close knit, connected, together, intertwined…even from a distance.

On Saturday, December 5 at 2:00-3:00pm, join us for a live talkback with some of the teaching team, composer Mike Essoudry and some special guest students!

And finally, we are offering a LIVE Glitter Ball Dance Party on Saturday December 5 from 4-5pm. Don your sparkles, come bedecked in your glitter, borrow some tinsel from your Christmas tree…DJ Sylvain Bouchard will be taking requests and spinning tunes for a Propeller Dance Party-the best kind of party!
